Pictures on a website… are great for for keeping visitors on site
Every one knows the expression a picture paints a thousand words.
And its true Yes they Do! That’s why you must have them on your site. Colour style moods themes pictures convey them all with ease and engage the site visitor, and stock photos help you do it.
Pictures are sticky, People who notice a picture or graphic they like will stick around to investigate your site further.
Surely that is the aim surely of a webmaster to keep people on his or her site to maximise the value of the sites traffic?
There are fantastic social networking sites that allow you to post your pictures online these are non commercial in nature and as such not useful to every one.
There are sites where you can post large files and link back from again not really suitable for professional commercial website or general website usage, some of the content may be of a nature you do not wish to be associated with perhaps it’s adult or unsuitable in some other context.
Pictures equal hosting bandwidth that is a fact that can be overlooked by people when selecting their hosting package. The best way to design a website is still a pen and a piece of paper! When roughing out designs jot down how many images you want to use, how many pages and multiply the numbers.
A good idea would be to talk to your host and see if the content you want to generate will be a problem to them. You can then take appropriate action and start on the right foot with a suitable hosting company.
Knowing the cost of your hosting package and not getting a forced upgrade further down the road at an unexpected price is what you should be aiming for…
I strongly advise you to use pictures in your web pages all over your site in fact to increase the perceived value from the user – visitor.
There are resources where your pictures can be turned into exciting dazzling videos, tailored to your sites requirements for instance animoto.com
The Internet is full of fantastic resources for content to keep your site current and relevant to today’s visitor. Stock photos are a great source of content top quality professional photos. Shop around I think you will be amazed at the price difference’s out there
The best thing… if you can do it? is to get out there with a camera and take your own. That’s my plan for this weekend the results will be totally original content specific to my market and website. I hope the weather is good! LOL.
You can save bandwidth by using a resizing software. A quick search will provide one to your liking. That will reduce the pixels in your image and render it in a manner suitable for online viewing.
When taking pictures if you can adjust the settings on your camera to a suitable level, it might be time to finally read that instructions manual. That way you be able to cut out the learning curve on resizing images.
How ever you get your images online I wish you well agood luck and success online.
